Vollenkorets start går tilbake til en vårfest i Vollen Ungdomslag i april 1990 da tre sang-glade sjeler luftet ideen om et kor. Dermed var det hele igang. Interessen var overveldende, og da koret ble offisielt stiftet 11 oktober 1990 var antall medlemmer allerede oppe i 40. Korets første dirigent var Marthe Sundsdal.
